I just returned home from the Alaska State Fair and am excited to announce that 120 Copper Court won three ribbons in this years Furnished Dollhouse Division: First Premium, Division Champion, and People's Choice! This is the first time I have ever entered a dollhouse in a state fair competition and I am just so very excited!!!

The End! 120 Copper Court is finished.
This is the very first dollhouse I have ever completed in its entirety for "myself". Copper Court is finally complete! I never knew how emotional it would be. You all have seen the photos of the completed room inside Copper Court...now it's time to see the outside. The reason it's taken so long is because I've been waiting on some landscaping materials; specifically the trees. Jeff and I took the house outside and I got some really nice shots. I hope you like them!

120 Copper Court - Kitchen
The final room is complete! The lighting is dim with this light fixture (and I'm sure that Hannah the cook won't be pleased about it), but I thought the fixture was perfect for the room; much better than what I had in there. I love that it's got the copper coloring to it. The icebox was a pricey little treasure I won on eBay that I wanted just for this project. I forget the name of the artisan who made it. The tall skinny shelf unit I made myself; it even has an opening potato bin! The sink is a bashed HOM kit; I'm sure you'll remember a previous post I made on this. The stove is Chrysnbon. I want to have better lighting in here, so maybe I'll hide a small LED bulb in there somewhere; we'll see.
My apologies for the sideways orientation of these photos. I forgot to turn my phone sideways to take them and didn't feel like re-doing them this morning. This is the shelf unit I made for the kitchen. You can't see most of it when looking into the house, unfortunately. It's of my own design and I just love it!
So there she is...the interior is complete. I'm sure I'll run across various small items to add to the house over time. Christmas is also coming!
Now, I wait for the landscaping materials I ordered to come in in order to finish up the exterior. We should be finished, hopefully, in October.

120 Copper Court - Nursery
Now baby Myra can get settled into her new home as well. This is my Peter Rabbit themed nursery. The furniture pieces I had on hand; waiting for the perfect room. The heater, mobile, and books were eBay finds. The little corner shelf behind the crib is an HOM kit. The quilt, bumper, lampshade, and seat back cushion were handmade by me using a cd-rom of Peter Rabbit images printed out onto fabric. I am so in love with this little room. I even took four tiny Peter Rabbit themed plates and glued them to pink ribbon for hanging on the wall.

Here's the crib with the comforter and bumper I made. The pillows I already had. The mobile was an eBay splurge that I couldn't pass up!

Now, only one room left to complete! It might take me a little longer as I need to create a special furniture piece from scratch for it. Stay tuned!

120 Copper Court - Bath Room
This bath room was a fun one to decorate! I wanted vintage romance and I think I got it. I got my hands on some micro glass and was able to do the stained glass roof panel over the window. The bathroom set is by Bespaq and the little shelf unit was a special piece I had commissioned by a gal on eBay. The bench is an HOM kit and the little bottles of toiletries on the bench and sink are from kits I found on Etsy. I think my favorite part of the room are the two pictures on the wall...LOVE 'EM!

120 Copper Court - Foyer
First off, I want to apologize for the sideways orientation of this photo. Unfortunately, the foyer is in an "out of reach" place and I am forced to use my iphone for this shot and the only way to get a photo to come out "upright" is to hold my iphone sideways; an impossibility with this shot due to the location.
The foyer is currently an unexciting place; not as welcoming as I'd like. And that is simply because I have not yet found the perfect rug, or the perfect decor for the small table; an HOM kit. I had wanted to do a stair runner with this staircase, but the whole thing had to be made so narrow to fit the space properly that I thought a runner would have made the staircase look even narrower than it is, so I left it alone. But I am still so very much in love with the staircase and how it turned out. I just wish it was in a much more visible place. :(

120 Copper Court - 2nd Floor Hallway
Just a few simple finishing touches and the hallway was completed in no time. The only thing I can't figure out what to do with is the alcove under the staircase, next to the window. I couldn't put anything larger than 2.5" wide and 6" tall in this space. A GF clock would be nice if one was short enough, but I also have one of those downstairs. A table with nick-nacks? Hmmm, dunno. I'm just stumped. Maybe Anne will think of something...or Franz, her decorator. But for now, the hallway is still looking pretty nice.

120 Copper Court - Bedroom
Yes, I've been on a roll lately; but this is one of my favorite things to do...decorate! ;) This is Emma and Jeffrey's sleeping quarters. I finally got to use this green toile wallpaper I've had around for ages! The bed is Bespaq, and hand-dressed by me. The dresser, nightstand, and chair are HOM kits that I assembled and stained to match the bed. The quilt stand is Heidi Ott...I think. The little picture is a Steve Hanks piece that I miniaturized and framed; I love his work. The carpeting is just upholstery yardage that I special ordered and the little rug is another eBay find. The two larger pictures are Thomas Kincaid; he was so enormously talented. Again, the draperies were made by me, but these went easier than the living room set.

It looks like someone has made himself comfortable already. The housekeeper better not find him here!

I imagine I'll add a few extra nick-nacks as I find some that strike my fancy, but for now, the room is finished. I just love the vintage, coziness of it!

120 Copper Court - Furnished Living Room
I wanted "pop" and I got it! The red in this room is, in my opinion, attention grabbing; without being too overboard. With the pale walls and ceiling, this room needed a splash of color. The piano is the music box kind that I've had on had for years. The sofa, rug, pillows, chair, pipe & ashtray, coffee table, flowers, and vase are from DHE. The clock and mirror are HOM kits that I assembled. The fireplace is from New England Miniatures. And the little Victorian phone is a treasure I found on eBay. The window treatments I made myself.
The color scheme I chose will also lend itself nicely around the holiday season; which is rapidly approaching!
Anne and her decorator Franz discuss the final details of the living room. She is quite happy with his choice of color palette!
The draperies gave me fits and I can't seem to get out various wrinkles, so Anne and family will just have to live with them...or blame them on the cat (coming soon!).

The Finished Exterior of 120 Copper Court
Well, here she is! I thought I'd never get to this point...where this dollhouse looks like a home. The only thing I have left to do to the outside is the landscaping and I'm tossing around several different ideas. But for now, at least the structure itself is complete. As hinted at in the address, there are several copper accents scattered throughout the structure...within the front gable trimwork, the window trimwork, balustrade accents, and even the roof. I will be incorporating a few subtle copper accents throughout the interior as well. I'm totally thrilled with the stone front porch. At first I couldn't decide on the color of tiles to use, but finally decided to match the porch stones to the color of the foundation stonework as closely as possible. The final result is very satisfying. After taking these photos, I thought I probably should have waited for the late afternoon light through the window rather than the morning light, simply because for some reason the afternoon light enables the eye to catch more easily the subtle color differences of the exterior paint and trimwork; with the morning light through the window, they look identical and they're not.
More pictures to come!
Now, it's onward to finally decorating the interior! EEK! I'm pretty excited about this as I've been collecting some pretty wonderful pieces for this house.
Here is the Kennicott family (Jeffrey, Anne, and baby Myra) that will reside within the walls of 120 Copper Court. They've been handed the keys and now Anne Kennicott is ready to bring in her decorator. Let the fun begin!
I'm going to save the yard landscaping for the end. I just can't make myself put off decorating the interior one second longer! Yayyy!! More pictures to come!

Camping and Mini's
During a recent camping trip to Soldotna, Alaska, I found the inspiration to do a little mini'ng. While wandering our campsite, I found on the ground a 9mm bullet casing in really good condition and I thought it would make a great miniature vase. Surrounded by all sorts of small flora, I decided to make a floral arrangement, and here is what I came up with. The whole thing is about 1.25 inches tall.
The fresh flowers have died by now, but I kept the casing and will use it for a more lasting arrangement in 120 Copper Court. Speaking of Copper Court, I'm making wonderful progress on the exterior and should have some photos coming pretty soon. It's really looking fantastic!
